ISLAMABAD, April 29<\/strong> \u2013 In a major step towards modernizing welfare disbursements, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced the expansion of digital wallets across Pakistan, aiming to bring provincial systems into a unified national digital payment framework.<\/p>\n

The announcement was made during a ceremony held to honor individuals who played key roles in the successful execution of the Prime Minister\u2019s Ramazan Relief Package. Addressing the attendees, PM Sharif highlighted the transformative power of digital payment systems in ensuring efficient, transparent, and dignified distribution of funds.<\/p>\n

“Through digital wallets, 79% of the relief funds were distributed seamlessly and without a hitch,\u201d said the Prime Minister. He criticized the inefficiencies of the previous manual systems, emphasizing the need for continued adoption of technology in government welfare programs.<\/p>\n

Looking ahead, the Prime Minister pledged that by next year, 100% of relief disbursements<\/strong> would be conducted digitally, ensuring complete transparency and efficiency through cutting-edge technology. He added that the overhaul of the system would continue, with provincial governments being gradually integrated into the national digital payments network<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Amir Ahmed Ali, Federal Secretary of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP)<\/a>, provided an in-depth briefing on the success of the Ramazan Relief Package. He underscored the critical role digital wallets played<\/a> in achieving timely and accurate fund transfers.<\/p>\n

During the ceremony, PM Sharif also presented honorary shields to notable individuals from both public and private sectors, recognizing their contributions to the program\u2019s success.<\/p>\n
