Karachi, April 29, 2025<\/em> \u2014 Pakistan\u2019s banking sector is witnessing a major reshuffle as new quarterly results reveal significant shifts in profitability rankings. According to financial disclosures for the quarter ended March 31, 2025, United Bank Limited (UBL)<\/a> has overtaken Meezan Bank to become the most profitable bank in the country.<\/p>\n

UBL reported an impressive profit of PKR 36.1 billion for Q1 2025, marking a new leadership position in the sector. Meezan Bank, which had previously led profitability charts, secured the second spot with PKR 22.4 billion in earnings.<\/p>\n

Another major development was the strong comeback by National Bank of Pakistan (NBP), which posted a profit of PKR 22.1 billion, enabling it to surpass both MCB Bank and Habib Bank Limited (HBL) to claim the third position.<\/p>\n
