The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP)<\/span><\/strong><\/a> has granted an In-Principle Approval (IPA)<\/span><\/strong> to PaySa <\/span><\/strong><\/a>to operate as an Electronic Money Institution (EMI)<\/span><\/strong> in Pakistan, marking a major step towards advancing the country\u2019s digital payments ecosystem.<\/p>\n

Historically, The Central Bank has granted similar approvals to companies for specific use cases of consumer and merchant wallets. However, in PaySa\u2019s case, the approval also includes an additional business segment for POS and QR acquiring alongside consumer and merchant wallets.<\/p>\n

PaySa<\/span><\/strong> was conceived in 2022<\/span><\/strong> with the vision to provide seamless payment services<\/span><\/strong> and play a crucial role in Pakistan\u2019s digitalization<\/span><\/strong>. They are currently working in partnership with Meezan Bank, deploying POS terminals to accelerate digital payment adoption in Pakistan<\/a>. Under this EMI license, PaySa will enable its users to digitally open e-money accounts<\/span><\/strong> and conduct hassle-free<\/span><\/strong> digital transactions. Further, customers will have access to cash withdrawals<\/span><\/strong>, bill payments<\/span><\/strong>, money transfers, debit card payments<\/a> & QR payments<\/span><\/strong>, all at the comfort of their homes.<\/p>\n
