SAN FRANCISCO<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 Elon Musk\u2019s artificial intelligence company,\u00a0xAI<\/strong>, has secured $6 billion in a Series C financing round, bringing its total funding to $12 billion. This announcement follows a $6 billion raise earlier in May, as reported by\u00a0TechCrunch<\/em>\u00a0on Wednesday.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The latest round saw participation from prominent investors including\u00a0Andreessen Horowitz, BlackRock, Fidelity, Lightspeed, MGX, Morgan Stanley, OIA, QIA, Sequoia Capital, Valor Equity Partners, Vy Capital, Nvidia, and AMD<\/strong>. Saudi Arabia\u2019s\u00a0Kingdom Holdings<\/strong>\u00a0contributed approximately $400 million, according to a public filing, which also revealed xAI\u2019s new valuation of\u00a0$45 billion<\/strong>, nearly double its previous figure.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

\u201cxAI\u2019s most powerful model yet is currently in training,\u201d the company stated. \u201cThe funds from this financing round will be used to further accelerate our advanced infrastructure, ship groundbreaking products, and expand our research and development efforts.\u201d<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The report highlighted that only investors who participated in xAI\u2019s previous fundraising round were eligible to join the Series C round, according to the\u00a0Financial Times<\/em>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Founded last year, xAI quickly gained traction with the release of\u00a0Grok<\/strong>, a generative AI model that powers various features on X (formerly Twitter). The AI-powered chatbot is available to\u00a0X Premium subscribers<\/strong>\u00a0and free users in selected regions.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The AI industry continues to see massive investments. Rivals\u00a0Anthropic<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0OpenAI<\/strong>\u00a0have also raised significant capital, securing $4 billion<\/a> and $6.6 billion respectively, in recent months. Anthropic\u2019s funding, led by Amazon, brings its total to $13.7 billion, while OpenAI\u2019s total investment stands at $17.9 billion.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
